4 May 1942 - 15(P) AFU, RAF Kirmington – Airspeed Oxford - AT739 - Sgt Alan B Goff – Training.
Location – East of RAF Kirmington between the airfield and the village of Barnetby, North Lincs.
Allan Barnes Goff of Laguna Beach, California, USA joined the RCAF early in WW2. He must have trained as a pilot in Canada before embarking for the UK. He was killed when Airspeed Oxford AT739 of which he was the sole occupant crashed near Barnetby to the east of RAF Kirmington shortly after take off. It is believed the port engine failed. The exact location of the crash is unknown to me but is probably on the rising ground between Kirmington airfield and Barnetby.
Sgt Goff pictured below was killed in the crash.
